Our Executive Director
A fellow follower with you in this “Mysterical Life” of Christ in you.
Born into a strong Christian home, Scott came to know Christ at age 3. He grew up at First Baptist Church, Columbia, SC (Ed Young, pastor), and was called into ministry at Ridgecrest Conference Center, NC, in June of 1979 (Hub Blankenship, youth min.). Scott began youth ministry while still in high school, coordinating Youth Lay Renewal Weekends (with Ira & Betty Craft) up and down the eastern seaboard. During college at Columbia International University (BA Bible, 87), he served as Minister of Youth for First Baptist Church, Irmo, SC; jump-started a summer youth ministry in Chatham, MA, served as a summer youth intern in Winter Park, FL, and served on the Collegiate Advisory Council during the 1986 SC Billy Graham Crusade.
While attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX (MDiv.BL, 90), Scott began working with Student Discipleship Ministries (a non-profit ministry committed to developing student discipleship materials for local churches nationwide) and what later became the national material development and distribution headquarters for the “See You at the Pole” movement (Billy Beacham, pres.). After marrying Kelli, he continued as Director of Operations until January 1995, serving bi-vocationally four of those years as Youth Pastor of Cana Baptist Church, Burleson, TX. From 1995-98, he served as Minister to Students at West Conroe Baptist Church in Conroe, TX, traveling several times overseas with Bill Jones (CCI), the late Michael Wells (ALMI) and other mission endeavors.
Scott has a rich variety of student ministry experiences and has a heart for the individual teen, parent, minister and layman. For several years during his ministry, God revealed some “identity issues” in his life. In November of 1994, his father said: “Someday you’ll learn that ministry is far more who you are than what you do.” While questioning how to measure true spiritual success, Scott embraced Paul’s words: “My children, with whom I am again in labor until Christ is formed inYou” (Gal. 4:19).
In 1998, on a hospital bed in Conroe, TX, while being treated for viral spinal meningitis, Scott designed the logo and wrote the charter for InYou Ministries. He now leads people to experience and express Jesus in the NOW through conferences, counsel, and curricula from his home in Spartanburg, SC.
Scott and Kelli have raised three sons, Chase, Carson and Cooper.
