WolfePak, January 2006

The Wolfe Pak …
New Year’s Day was a bit lazy for us, but it came nonetheless. We really have enjoyed finally getting to enjoy the new house as a family. I have been painting the house both inside and out, but the majority of the construction is complete. The boys and I enjoyed a day with Gene and Lyda attending the 225 year anniversary of the Battle of Cowpens. There was a live reenactment of the battle that turned the momentum of the Revotionary War in the South. It’s always an eiry feeling watching the past look so real as men, women and children dressed in 18th century clothing.

My cousin, Nathan Mayhew, was diagnosed with Leukemia late last year and plans to have a bone marrow transplant in April at the Univ, of Michigan medical center. He and a friend came to visit us in the Carolinas. We played ping-pong and golf and shared some invaluable time together. I am coaching Cooper’s Upward basketball team (the Huskies), and although we are not winning the first half, we do come on strong in the second. (Are we awake?) We enjoy Thursday night practices and Saturday games. Thanks to my brother, Rigba, for providing painting work in Columbia during the slow time of year. It’s been good to have more time to devote to the ministries of INYOU. We trust this month will be a small taste of what 2006 holds for INYOU. (P.S. I enjoyed cashing in on my Christmas present: an upper body massage!)

Chase is undefeated in wrestling. It has been an adrenaline rush watching each match. He attended Accelerator Weekend (Disciple Now) with FBC Youth, Jan. 27-29. Carson stays active with friends, Upward basketball, drums, band and his Legos Robotics team. They got to compete in Columbia, SC, and took 27th of 60+ teams. Cooper enjoyed celebrating his 9th birthday (January 29) with friends around a bonfire at the old house. His big brothers helped make the party fun by leading the kids in a game of flashlight tag. Kelli’s hands are so full she’s been cooking and house-keeping with her feet! She’s teaching a after-school PACT prep class two days a week to earn money for a Spring Break trip to FL (Prov. 31 woman!). We’ve all become Reality Show junkies and are enjoying time around the dinner table again now that the holidays are over. Life is busy, but good at home!
