The Wolfe Pak …
On Sept. 2, our family was enjoying the day with my (Scott’s) parents and all five of my siblings and their families at my brother’s wife’s aunt’s new lake house on Lake Wateree, when Rigba’s (Scott’s brother) wife, Courtney, received word that her sister had attempted suicide. Courtney immediately left with her aunt to drive to Spartanburg where they discovered that a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head had ended Meredith’s life. We attended the funeral that week and ask you to pray for Courtney and her family during this difficult time.
The Wolfe family “tailgated” with Deborah Beard and friends at a South Carolina vs. Wofford game in Columbia, SC. Wofford (only 1100 students) almost beat Steve Spurrier’s SC Gamecocks in the last few minutes of the game!
Cooper has been playing AYSO soccer for the first time this year and loves it. He’s been playing great on offense and defense and has scored two goals so far. Granny and Gramps haven’t missed a game. Granny has been teaching Cooper piano lessons.
Carson has been practicing at wide receiver and corner back and get more playing time each week. He seems to be enjoying Middle School by himself, but has to fight off his big brother’s shadow every now and then. Of course, Carson has had no problem making his mark at Gable. He’s a clown and very witty with both peers and teachers.
Chase is staying busy with Drama, both at school and at Spartanburg’s Little Theatre. He practices four nights per week and has 8 performances Oct. 13-16. He won 30 Christian CD’s in a drawing from a local bookstore (Christian Supply) during a “Loudmouth” meeting he attends each month. (A “loudmouth” is a student who helps promote Christian music in exchange for discounts and opportunities to talk via conference calls to popular Christian artists.)
Kelli’s 4th graders leave her coming home ready for a break; however, we are at that stage of life where a break is in the Taxi Van. She’s busy running Cooper to soccer, Chase to drama, Carson from football, and herself to Band practice each week. She is discipling four Jr. High teens this fall in our home as well as hosting the entire youth group each Sunday night.
Scott and the boys enjoyed trimming the large oaks at The Nest in a 46’ hydraulic lift. We now have plenty of wood for the bonfires planned next month! Scott is leading a Bible study for Converse college girls in our home Sunday nights. It’s been SO awesome watching the girls grow spiritually these past three years. We started this study their freshman year and now they are seniors! We are also enjoying our adopted college students, Matt Low and Jesse Davis, from Wofford College, and have added three more from Converse College—Valerie (Scott’s cousin), Brittany and Dedra.
